Beneath the Waves | ArtStation Challenge — Game Environment/Level Art
Plot: Earth in 2170 — Ships are harvesting algae which is growing on seamounts. By doing this the humans are destroying the habitat of an subaqua civilisation which is living in kelp forests. | For the environment challenge I built a giant conveyor bridge. It utilizes huge shredders on long flexible pipes to harvest subsea kelp forests which grow on the slopes of seamounts.

I made some top-down-scribbles then experimented in zBrush until I was statisfied with my seaground.
For my seamounts I read some articles on the web and looked into interesting seaground formations.
For rendering a dense forest in the background I went with a lowpoly variant of my kelp plant.

For harvesting the underwater forest the humans are using an structure similar to a conveyor bridge. It utilizes a bunch of really long flexible pipes which have a huge shredder at their ends.
